Welcoming and Hospitality
The Welcoming and Hospitality committee serve as a welcoming committee for new and potentially new members of the St. Mary’s community. The committee would do this by following up with groups of people including: 1) those that have recently moved to the neighborhood and are attending Mass at St. Mary’s, 2) newly confirmed Catholics who have just completed RCIA, 3) newly-married couples in the St. Mary’s community, and 4) Parents who have recently had their child baptized. The committee would need to develop an awareness of St. Mary’s ministries and be enthusiastic about the many opportunities St. Mary’s offers for people to enter into a community of faith. The committee needs at least three members from the English-speaking community and three members from the Spanish-speaking community.Bereavement Ministry
The Bereavement Ministry would make follow up calls on parishioners who have suffered a loss to offer support. They would also assist in coordinating funerals with the parish office, setting up the church, and helping the family plan the funeral liturgy. Bereavement Ministry needs 2-3 volunteers. If you would like to assist the Bereavement Ministry, contact Sr. Therese at theresewente@yahoo.com.Pro-Life Ministry
The Pro-Life Ministry would promote several activities during the year aimed at promoting the dignity of all human life. At least 5 dedicated parishioners are needed to help formulate a vision for this ministry and coordinate with Archdiocesan efforts. If you would like to participate in this ministry, contact Fr. Michael.Mission Trips
The Mission Trips Ministry would exist to facilitate a better awareness of social justice issues related to immigration. Members of the St. Mary’s community would make an annual trip to Mexico to perform a work project in partnership with an organization similar to CoCoDa (Companion Community Development Alternatives). The trip would be faith-based but would also facilitate cultural learning. We need a team to help lead this exciting opportunity. If you would like to participate in the Mission Trip Ministry, please contact Fr. Michael.Communication
The mission of the Communication ministry would be to develop methods of communicating internally and externally beyond the St. Mary’s bulletin and announcements at Mass. The committee would 1) be responsible for developing the newsletter and for keeping the website up-to-date. 2) Manage the St. Mary’s address and e-mail lists. 3) Develop a relationship with the Archdiocese and collaborate with Archdiocesan communications. Contact Fr. Michael if you would be interested in leading the Communications committee.
