Religious Education
The purpose of the Religious Education ministry is to teach children the beliefs, attitudes and behaviors that unify them with God and the Catholic Church and to prepare them to receive sacraments. Classes are currently held for children ages 4 to 18 and are taught by catechists. Religious Education needs 30 volunteers from both the English- and Spanish speaking communities. If interested, please contact Janet Arno at jarno@iupui.edu or 637-6083; 312-1442.RCIA
The mission of RCIA is to prepare non-Catholics both intellectually and spiritually to become Catholics in the reception of the Sacraments of Initiation. RCIA offers parishioners a highly rewarding opportunity to evangelize and to grow spiritually with those who are about to enter the faith. A committee of persons is needed to work with Sr. Therese beginning in the Spring, and then for eight months of preparation. Volunteers could act as sponsors, instructors or supportive participants in discussions. If interested, please contact Sr. Therese at theresewente@yahoo.com.Infant Baptism
The Infant Baptism ministry exists to guide parents and their children through the sacrament of baptism, and to welcome new Catholics into our community of faith. We do this by hosting monthly classes for parents whose children are approaching baptism, coordinate dates for baptisms with the St. Mary’s parish office, and providing the hospitality needed at the Baptismal ceremony. We need a coordinator for the English-speaking community. If you would be interested in the Infant Baptism ministry, contact Fr. Michael.Marriage Preparation
The Marriage Preparation ministry helps engaged couples prepare for the sacrament of matrimony. Couples who are involved in this ministry perform many important tasks, including coordinating individual meetings with couples and helping the couple file paperwork with the Archdiocese if necessary. We need 6-8 couples in both the English- and Spanish-speaking communities who can lead the Marriage Preparation ministry. If interested, contact Fr. Michael.Adult Bible Study
The Adult Bible Study ministry helps us grow in our knowledge of scripture through study and prayer in small groups. St. Mary’s goal is to develop a network of several small groups that meet in parishioners’ homes once every 2-4 weeks. In addition to providing growth in our knowledge of scripture, Adult Bible Study also allows us to build relationships with other St. Mary’s parishioners. We need both group participants and leaders. If you would like to participate in an Adult Bible Study group, contact Fr. Michael.Prayer Group
The Prayer Group Ministry helps parishioners grow closer to God through more intense prayer experiences. This is done by through organized group sessions of prayer in a service that includes both repetitive prayer and freeform prayer. It offers a forum for regular prayer together outside Mass. The Spanish-speaking group meets one night every week for an hour, and new members are welcome. The English-speaking community needs a small team of leaders who are committed to participating each week and who can prepare the prayers for each week’s meeting. Contact Fr. Michael.Youth Group
The Youth Group Ministry exists to help junior high and high school age young people grow in their faith, spiritual life, and knowledge of the Catholic Church. The English-speaking community needs a leadership team to re-start this effort at St. Mary’s. If you would like toTheology
The Theology Ministry offers classes and seminars that give us opportunities to learn more about the theology of the Church, and also plans lectures on varying theological topics. We need additional committee members who would be interested in planning lectures offered throughout the year. Contact Fr. Michael if you are interested in the Theology Ministry.
