Remediation work on the steeples & facade of the Church has now been completed. Several unstable pieces of cracked or broken limestone were removed and the columns,at the base of the steeples, were wrapped with 1/4" stainless steel cable to bundle them in place for future repair/restoration. After consult- ing with Arsee Engineering and DM Masonry, we now believe the structure is reasonably safe and the safety scaffolding in the front of Church can be removed.

YEAR OF MERCY PARISH MISSION
As part of our parish observance of the "Year of Mercy," St. Mary will host Father Bruce Nieli, CSP for a parish mission October 1-5, 2016. He belongs to the Missionary Society of St. Paul and travels throughout the U.S. giving retreats & missions.
On Ash Wednesday, Fr. Bruce was named by Pope Francis as a special "missionary of mercy" for this Holy Year. He speaks both English and Spanish and will have evening sessions each night of the mission. As well, he will offer an opportunity for confessions each evening.
I had the chance to hear Fr. Bruce speak at a workshop about a year ago. He has a great sense of humor and presents the Gospel in a very human way. He also plays the guitar.
